"i CaNt gO tO tHe GyM bEcAuSe oF COVID-19" Says who??

Let's Get Started!

Question marks on a scaleMost of my blogs have been centered around eating healthy, but being healthy isn't just about what you put in your body. There many ways in which we can take care of our bodies, and exercising is one of them. I know, that's the last thing that some of us college students are thinking about. Most of us are just trying to make it through the semester. But exercising isn't just about 'gains' and 'summer bodies', its about treating the outside of your body the same as you would the inside.

Angry catExercising isn't as bad as many people may think. It seems as if most college kids in today's society are doing lots of exercising to get in shape. Now being healthy isn't always apart of everyone's every day lifestyle, but I think the influence from peers and people on the internet guide most of us to want to get in shape. Well, that and the fact that none of us wants to be 35, bald and chunky.

Let's think of some ways that you can exercise:

    Question mark
  • go for a walk/run
  • dance (you will definitely break a sweat)
  • clean up your room (silly I know, but trust me)
  • daily stretches
  • walk your pet
  • walk up and down your steps
  • go to the gym

Now I'm aware that most of these options don't seem to be the most appealing. Quite frankly I'm sure some of them sound quite absurd, but honestly any movement that you do on a daily basis is a form of exercising because you're working your joints. But the typical thing to do is to go to the gym. Now because of the COVID-19 pandemic, gyms, like many other establishments, are closed. Closed gyms? Guess that means no exercising. Nope, wrong! There are plenty of ways to work out in the comfort of your own home; which is perfect since we're all quarantined anyway.

Woman staring out the windowMany people have been taking advantage of working out from home since there's nothing else to do. But I think everyone just wants abs for when summer comes and outside "opens back up". But for now, I'm going to give you some tips for working out at home.

6 Tips For Working Out At Home

  1. Eliminate distractions- find a way to zone out all of the things that could distract you such as phone notifications, that show you've been binge-watching, and even your family.
  2. Build a support system- getting motivated to start your work out can be difficult, so try working out with someone else; somewhat like an accountability buddy.
  3. Create a fitness space- having everything that you need in one spot can be very beneficial, as well as making that space distraction free.
  4. Schedule time to train- being at home can cause you to just work out whenever, but it can also cause you to get complacent; try setting an alarm or a reminder for a set time.
  5. Don't forget about your form
  6. Try some new moves
