Welcome to my first blog about healthy eating for college students!

Let's Get Started!

Student stressing.
As most people would assume, living in college can be stressful. From studying for tests, to typing three different papers due in the same week, to remembering to get to class on time, college can be a hassle.  But the number one thing that I think most of us can admit to is that our diets are terrible.

Unhealthy food

I can personally attest to the fact that my eating habits are a mess. I mean let's think about it. When you have at least five classes a semester, plus the other three on campus organizations that you're in, you typically go for the quicker options. Here at Stevenson University we have flex dollars which can be deadly because when you're busy or you think the cafe food sucks, you'll go to Dunkin', Tropical Smoothie, Subway, or any of the other retailers that accept our flex. Although these options may be easier, they might not necessarily be healthier.

The typical diet of a person should reflect the food pyramid: fruits, grains, protein, vegetables, and dairy. Granted us college students do not have the time or energy to make a plate that looks like that, even if we go into the cafe; because quick frankly its hard, and requires discipline.

Post- workout.

Most Stevenson students from what I've seen, are athletes or just very interesting in having a healthy weight; because lots of people are always in the gyms on campus. Now the exercise portion of being healthy is important. But when you mix exercising daily and drinking water, with a terrible diet, you are essentially stunting your progress for abs or toned arms, or whatever else.

Okay gesture through the phone.
Moving forward, this blog will give recipes, and tips for ways to eat healthier, but still quick, meals and snacks. No one wants to "break the bank" and spend a fortune on a healthy meal; nor do they want to take two hours to cook something that will taste good. With my help we all can be a little more healthy while being a whole lot lazy.
