Let's Get Started!

Since the start of this pandemic's self-distancing/ quarantine initiative, we've all been stuck in the house. Granted many of us college students had to adjust to being back home (and some are still adjusting). But college students and everyone else that is confined to their homes are having the same "problem"; not spending money.
Many people have been used to spending their money, day in and day out, on one thing or another. The one thing most college kids spend their funds on while at school: food. Considering the fact that most dining options aren't as appealing, college students go out & order out A LOT!
But now that we're home, and most restaurants are closed for dining in, what's the alternative? You guessed it: "YOU'VE GOT FOOD AT HOME". None of us really like to hear that phrase because what you have at home might not satisfy the craving to spend money that you have. However, most of the things that college students spend their money on are not healthy food items. Staying healthy at a time like this is important since COVID-19 attacks weak immune systems. So what better way to save money and eat healthier, than by whipping up some food at home.
Also while home many of us are living with younger children and older adults. So eating healthy could not only benefit you but everyone else in the house as well. So to help college students out with a healthy snack that's family friendly, and guaranteed to create a quarantined bonding moment, I have a recipe that I'm sure will be delicious. Ingredients
1 sheet pie crust
1 cup of chopped apples
1/4 cup of sugar
1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 cup water
1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
(toppings: vanilla ice cream & sauce of your choosing)
Instructions
*this recipe is for 4 servings*
- Preheat the oven to 425 F
- Roll out aluminum foil into a cone. Make 4 cones per 1 pie sheet.
- Cut the pie sheet into quarters. Place the cone at one end of the sheet and roll the dough onto the cone. Use a fork to crimp the ends of the dough.
- Bake 5-10 minutes until the dough is set. Let it cool before pulling out the aluminum foil.
- In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients and mix.
- Place pie cone in a mug for stability and spoon in the fruit mixture.
- Turn oven down to 400 F and bake for 15 minutes or until the fruit is soft.
- Top it with ice cream and your favorite sauce.
- Enjoy!
